Makani Olu Ranch is home to Hawaii’s largest longhorn herd. This ranch offers the unique experience of a working
cattle ranch, as well as trial riding. Immerse yourself in the life of a cowboy, just for a day! Makani Olu’s
cattle herd includes over 80 cattle. In addition to trail riding, they offer horseback riding lessons for beginner
through advanced riders. They also offer youth week long and day camps, as well as horsemanship clinics.
Makani Olu offers two trail rides for your enjoyment. The “Waikapu Plantation Ride” begins at 9:30 am and will
explore the Waikapu Valley and some amazing views. You will stop part way through the ride for lunch, which is
provided. The entire ride takes about 2.5 hours.
The “Makani Olu Ride” is the perfect trail ride for individuals with some horseback experience. During the ride,
basic horsemanship and handling techniques will be explained and demonstrated. Riders will be able to improve their
horseback riding abilities all while having a great time exploring the beauty of Maui. It is a great way to improve
your confidence on the back of a horse. This ride is limited to one or two people, so there is plenty of individual
attention. Refreshments are also provided.
The trail rides cost from $125-150 a person and can be booked by email or phone. Riders are required to be at
least 10 years of age and/or height of 4’11. Reservations are required and should be booked at least three
days in advance.
