Piiholo Ranch is a family owned and operated ranch. It’s located on the edge of a beautiful rainforest in central Maui. Trail rides include amazing views of the island, as well as experiencing the native flora and fauna. The ranch has lots to offer guests, including lots of horseback riding and a zipline. You definitely won’t be bored while visiting Piiholo Ranch!

Piiholo has several different rides and options—something for everybody! They offer a 1 or 2 hour version of their “Country” ride, which covers quite a bit of ground. Ride through a working cattle ranch and pastures, eucalyptus forest, and see views of the north and south shores, pineapple fields, and sugarcane fields. The 1 hour ride is only offered in the morning; check in time is at 10:00. However, the 2 hour ride has a morning (8:30) and afternoon (12:30) option.

The ranch also has a 3 hour ride with lunch. Since it is longer, you will ride through the ranch, Koa ridge, and Piiholo Hill. It is typically a beginner ride, but it can be catered to advanced riders which will include trotting through pastures, and cantering on Koa ridge. However, you must call for reservations and details if you wish to make it an advanced ride.

Piiholo also offers private 2 or 3 hour rides. They recommend the 3 hour trip, though, to give the guide and riders enough time to explore the area, including hidden pools.

This ranch offers a unique experience for those who may be interested. Their “Horse Around the World” ride allows you to ride 5 different breeds of horses at the walk, trot, and canter both in the arena and on the trail. Previous riding experience is required, and there is a four person minimum to do this activity.

In addition, Piiholo offers private riding lessons for children and adults.

Riding at Piiholo costs anywhere from $75 for a 1 hour ride to $325 for “Horse Around the World.” Piiholo Ranch is open 6 days a week, closed on Sundays. One of my favorite perks this ranch offers is free coffee upon check in for a morning ride!
